Tinnitus Treatment in London
Tinnitus is sound you hear that has no external source: ringing, buzzing, hissing or humming in the ears or head. It is closely linked to hearing: around 70 to 85% of people with hearing impairment experience tinnitus, yet only 10 to 25% seek help. Our qualified audiologists assess and manage tinnitus in London at our East Dulwich, Soho and Canary Wharf clinics, starting with a free 15-minute consultation, and with the honesty you deserve about what treatment can and cannot do.

Once again I am truly grateful for Dayna's expertise. Again, £75.00 well spent. Dayna is still the calm, friendly, kind and skilled professional she was when I last saw her. I am always apprehensive about the process of ear microsuction but I needn't have been. The procedure was comfortable and pain free. The results are great.
The audiologist who treated me was absolutely top drawer. Her name was Dayna and she gave me an appointment the same day and removed a considerable amount of wax from both of my ears using microsuction.
Dayna was fantastic! Knowledgeable, reassuring and efficient. Highly recommend her practice and would definitely return.
Cannot recommend highly enough. The service is excellent and the audiologists are extremely proficient. Will not go anywhere else in future.
Our tinnitus care can help to:
Understand what your tinnitus is and is not
Understanding is the foundation of tinnitus management. Your audiologist explains what is generating the sound, why it fluctuates, and why it is so rarely a sign of anything sinister. For many people, that explanation alone takes much of the fear out of it.
Find any hearing loss underneath it
Around 70 to 85% of people with hearing impairment experience tinnitus. Comprehensive hearing testing that goes beyond standard pure tone audiometry establishes whether reduced hearing input is driving yours, because treating that loss is frequently the most effective step.
Make the sound less prominent
Sound enrichment, hearing technology where a loss coexists, and habituation-based strategies all reduce how much of your attention the tinnitus captures. The sound may still be there, but it moves from the foreground of your life to the background.
Protect your sleep, focus and mood
The real cost of tinnitus is usually what it does to sleep, concentration and mood. Our structured 8 to 16 week programme addresses the reaction as well as the sound, supporting the whole person rather than just the ear.
Catch the presentations that need a doctor
One-sided tinnitus, tinnitus that pulses with your heartbeat, and tinnitus with sudden hearing loss or dizziness all need medical investigation. We screen for these patterns at assessment and refer you promptly, with a full report, when they appear.
Why it happens
What drives it
- Hearing loss, the most common association: age-related or noise-induced changes reduce input to the brain, which responds by generating sound
- Exposure to loud noise, either over years or from a single intense event
- Ear wax build-up, ear infections or middle ear problems that block sound temporarily
- Stress, fatigue and low mood, which can trigger tinnitus or make existing tinnitus more intrusive
- Some medications, with tinnitus listed as a recognised side effect
- Less commonly, specific medical conditions affecting the ear, which is why one-sided or pulsing tinnitus is always investigated
At your first appointment we take the time to find out what is really going on.
Appointments are longer here by design. Your audiologist takes a full history, examines your ears, and runs the tests your situation actually calls for, going beyond standard pure tone audiometry where needed.
Results are explained clearly on the day, and you leave with a personalised plan: whether that is treatment, monitoring, a referral, or the reassurance that your hearing is normal.
Our focus is clinical outcomes, not retail sales. Clearly Hearing is an independent clinic: no manufacturer ties, no sales targets, and appointments long enough to listen properly, investigate thoroughly and explain everything in plain English.

Treatment approach
How Dayna treats it
Comprehensive Hearing Assessment
From £120 (children from £90)Because most tinnitus travels with hearing loss, assessment starts with comprehensive hearing testing: otoscopy, pure tone audiometry with bone conduction, tympanometry and speech testing where appropriate. The results establish whether hearing loss is driving your tinnitus and screen for the patterns that need medical referral.

From £2,795 per pairWhere a hearing loss sits underneath your tinnitus, well fitted hearing aids restore the input your brain is missing, and many people find their tinnitus becomes noticeably less prominent as a result. Every fitting is independent, verified with Real Ear Measurement and supported with structured aftercare.

Frequently asked
questions
Will my tinnitus ever go away?
For some people tinnitus settles or fades over time, particularly when an underlying cause such as ear wax is treated. For others it persists, but the distress it causes is very treatable. Most people who work through a structured management programme find their tinnitus far less intrusive in daily life.
When is tinnitus a sign of something serious?
See a doctor promptly if your tinnitus is in one ear only, pulses in time with your heartbeat, or arrives with sudden hearing loss, dizziness or facial weakness. These patterns need medical investigation. As part of our assessment we screen for them and refer you on whenever the picture warrants it.
What does tinnitus management at Clearly Hearing involve?
It starts with a free 15-minute consultation, followed by an initial assessment session of up to two hours covering your hearing, your tinnitus and how it affects you. A structured programme then runs over 8 to 16 weeks, combining education, sound-based strategies and support tailored to your situation.
Is tinnitus linked to hearing loss?
Strongly. Around 70 to 85% of people with hearing impairment experience tinnitus, yet only 10 to 25% seek help. That is why every tinnitus assessment here includes comprehensive hearing testing, and why treating an underlying hearing loss, often with hearing aids, frequently makes tinnitus noticeably less prominent.
